Enjoy an intimate, seated dinner paired with fine wine, followed by a classic film screened in Hearst Castle’s private theater lit by golden goddesses all along the red damask walls.

Begin your special evening with a scenic ride in a luxury coach winding up the iconic road to Hearst Castle. Tour Casa del Mar and then step inside for a four-course, wine-paired dinner party at sunset, before strolling through the gardens to the opulent theater to watch a classic film or perhaps newsreels from Hearst’s day.

Referred to as “House A,” its formal name is Casa del Mar—Spanish for “House of the Sea.” Hearst’s family stayed here while Architect Julia Morgan built Casa Grande. Dine on the glass-enclosed loggia of the sumptuous house overlooking the California Central Coast to experience where Mr. Hearst also lived during the last two years of his residence at this hilltop estate.

Amid all the grandeur of Hearst Castle, it’s said that W.R. seemed most relaxed in his ornate, 50-seat movie theater, where he liked to screen a movie or encourage a performance, surrounded by companion and actress Marion Davies and his dachshund, his famous guests also gathered around. The theater, just off the billiard room, was used for both amateur theatricals and the showing of movies from Hearst’s Cosmopolitan Studios and others. In the vestibule, an electric console controls the bells in the carillon towers
