If you’ve ever dreamed of swimming in the luxurious pool once appreciated by the likes of Joan Crawford, Howard Hughes, and even Lady Gaga–this is your chance.
Following the Grand Reopening of the nearly 90-year-old Julia Morgan-designed pool last October, now, members* of The Foundation at Hearst Castle are invited for a coveted swim in the Neptune Pool! Rarely open to the public, only four VIP swim events are scheduled for 2019, with no more than 40 guests at each exclusive pool party.
Constructed in multiple iterations between 1924 and 1926, the Neptune Pool at Hearst Castle is 104 feet long, 58 feet wide, and 95 feet wide at the alcove. It is 3.5 feet deep at the west end, 10 feet at the drains, and holds 345,000 gallons of water. Other notable aspects of the Neptune Pool include the (defunct) oil-burning heating system, the Vermont marble that lines the basin, gutters, and alcove, and four Italian relief sculptures on the sides of the colonnades.
Begin your experience with a scenic ride up the iconic road leading to the Enchanted Hill. Then, head to historic changing rooms located off the Neptune Terrace to prepare to swim in the newly-refurbished Neptune Pool. Stroll spectacular surrounding terraces, take in the view and music, and relish a fabulous selection of fancy foods, as well as the Central Coast’s finest wines and craft beers. Once satiated, guests will be escorted down the hill with memories of a lifetime.
Also, guests may opt for a 45 minute viewing of the digitally-remastered film, “Building the Dream,” in Hearst Castle’s five-story IMAX theatre before heading up to the pool.
Note: 40 guests max. First come, first-served.
