The Foundation at Hearst Castle is thrilled to welcome back to the board of directors Ms. Evelyn Plemons, who will serve again as secretary.
Evelyn Plemons was first elected to the board of directors for Friends of Hearst Castle in 2006, where she served for nine years until 2015. In 2008 she became secretary. In that capacity, she played a vital role in crafting a new infrastructure necessary for the growth of the organization. She helped create a concise and meaningful mission statement, updated the bylaws, and developed sound operational policies and procedures for the board and committees.
Evelyn worked on the original ArtReach program, which later evolved into today’s ArtSmart program. She helped organize two plein air invitationals, the first ever Hearst Castle overnight experience, and served on fundraising committees for Enchanted Evening, Holiday Feast, and Twilight on the Terrace (including the naming of Twilight on the Terrace.) She coordinated joint events, including field trips and tours with other historic house organizations. Evelyn was especially dedicated to educational programs, as she always saw Hearst Castle as a treasure trove of learning for children and adults alike.
After a five year hiatus from board service, Evelyn is excited to be involved in the new direction the organization is taking, particularly the STEAM programs for underserved youth as well as art conservation, restoration, and the historic preservation of an internationally recognized museum.
Welcome back, Evelyn!
