Planned Giving

Planned Giving What Will Your Legacy Be? Since 1985, The Foundation at Hearst Castle has supported the conservation and restoration of La Cuesta Encantada through membership opportunities and special events, always aiming to inspire and empower underserved youth. With a planned gift, you can create a meaningful legacy and help us ensure that future generations are able to experience the wonders of Hearst Castle. We encourage you to discuss the best plans for your situation by visiting with your professional advisor. Or we invite you to ask questions of our advisors at The Aegis Group at Morgan Stanley. Lets Talk! Reach out to our team to discuss options and set up a call with our advisors. Call: (805) 995-9720 Email: Info@foundationathearstcastle.com   How to Give Gifts in a Will or Living Trust A charitable gift from your estate is a favored method of giving that enables you to achieve your financial goals, maintain control of your assets, and benefit the Foundation. Beneficiary Designations While you may transfer many of your assets through your will or living trust, a document called a beneficiary designation controls distribution of your retirement plans, life insurance policies, commercial annuities and a variety of financial accounts. Charitable Gift Annuity A charitable gift annuity provides fixed payments to you or others you name for life in exchange for your gift of cash or securities. Learn more Deferred Charitable Gift Annuity A deferred gift annuity provides fixed payments to you or others you name for life in exchange for your gift of cash or securities. The payments start on a date you choose that is at least one year after you make the gift. Charitable Remainder Trusts A charitable remainder unitrust can help you maintain or increase your income while making a significant gift to The Foundation at Hearst Castle. The charitable remainder unitrust is highly flexible. You can easily make gifts of assets that are not easily converted to cash using the unitrust. If your unitrust grows, your payments will grow too, providing a potential hedge against inflation. Learn more Charitable Lead Trusts You can set up a trust that makes annual gifts to The Foundation at Hearst Castle. At the end of the trust’s term, the remaining assets will pass to you or your family. This type of gift offers income tax benefits or reduced gift and estate tax costs. Learn more Bargain Sales Receive immediate cash and make a gift to The Foundation at Hearst Castle by selling to us a valuable asset, such as real estate, for less than it is worth. The IRA Gift (QCD) The IRA charitable rollover is now permanent and is a terrific way to make a tax-free gift to The Foundation at Hearst Castle using your qualified retirement plan. This gift may also satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD). Retained Life Estates Your home is one of your most valuable assets. With a retained life estate, you can give your home to us now, but continue to live in it for as long as you wish. Make a greater gift than you might have thought possible and receive immediate [...]
